One year ago today I was stood outside my house, waiting for my lovely friend to pull up in her van. Could you see the floor in the hall? Hardly! It was move day! I was moving out of working from home into a studio! We then went to two different Ikeas - it was a long day!
Taking on a separate workspace was a very wise decision. I live in London so it wasn't an easy decision financially, but it certainly was a smart one. Having a dedicated studio outside of my home was a big game changer - in every way from having a creative and (mostly) professional place to hold meetings with clients, space to purchase bigger and better tools and machinery, and very importantly - having other folk around me. I enjoyed working from home - but I wanted to grow as a business as for me that meant spreading my metaphorical wings (I know working from home works very well for many people but I was driving myself a bit mad…) It was a big leap, but without doubt it has paid off.
The funniest thing is that I had all these ideas for how to space would look, but from the moment I moved in I got busy, very busy… so it still hasn't happened, however every week it gets nicer! I share with an incredibly florist so it doesn't get much better than that. I have a furniture delivery this week but it's function over fashion sadly - I'm very happy here though! So many of my favourite memories from my the last year were made here. Yes, that's probably because I spend most of my time here, but I'm so lucky to have the studio!
I think this deserves cake, right?
