A couple of weeks ago I was part of a very exciting event. I had a stand at the Most Curious Wedding Fair at the Truman Brewery in London, and it was pretty fantastic.
There are so many wedding fairs, SO MANY. & to be honest, so many of them are the same thing over and over again. This is NOT one of them. I was thrilled to be invited to participate as part of BridalNEXT which was for lots of new designers across all the different parts of the industry (wedding dresses, florists, stationery, photography, props etc!) - the idea being that there was a competition to support new businesses in the industry too
I've done a few events at the Truman Brewery, and it's one of my favourite venues. It's huge, well lit and just a really great space to add a personality to. Also, the best coffee in London is right outside.
I was so proud of my stand. I worked pretty hard in the weeks running up to it, pulling some pretty late nights to get everything looking the way I wanted. My vision was for it to be relaxed, fun and colourful in a way that represented everything Oh Squirrel is about. It was a challenge to exhibit both Wedding Stationery & Hen Party Accessories in a way that showed them both off, but I think I got there!
Over the weekend I met so many great people - potential clients and fellow exhibitors alike! A few ones I'd love to mention for their absolute awesomeness are Doris Loves, Velvet Johnstone, Crown & Glory, Vervain Flowers and Natalie J Photography - there were so many other lovely people too and I'm sorry if I missed anyone - the weekend was madness
I was absolutely thrilled about how Oh Squirrel was received. By the time I got home on the Sunday I already had three wedding enquiries in the inbox! In order to fit everyone in I'm having a weekend of appointments at the studio which is going to be really good fun
This year has already been a busy one, and the wedding fair is going to be the springboard for hopefully a very exciting one. The icing on the cake (oh, and there was plenty of cake!) was that on the Sunday afternoon I got a big surprise - I was selected as the Winner of the bridalNEXT award for Wedding Services!! It was a complete shock (there are some brilliant photos of my face looking very confused on the internet…) and I couldn't quite believe it. The award was judged by Kat Williams, aka Rock n Roll Bride, who is someone I have a great deal of admiration for to say the least. That felt pretty bloody brilliant!
So there it is! What started as a weekend walking up Brick Lane with helium filled balloons (oh gravity got the better of them in the end!) ended up with being titled an Award Winning Business.
A big thank you to everyone who came to the stand, and to Cat & Sara who organised such a brilliant event.
If I met you at the event and you're interested in having a meeting, I have a few appointments left this Saturday (28th March) at the studio in Muswell Hill, North London - please email if you'd like to pop by
