May Playlist - Music I Had Forgotten About

Wow, it's been a year since I've done this (Christmas doens't count, Christmas is not Christmas without a playlist!) It's so ironic as one of the many things I thought I'd do more when I worked for myself full time was blog more but that totally didn't happen. When I had a 'job' I'd use every spare second of my commute to plan and write blogs, and I used to write them on my phone. Obviously my excuse is I now walk or cycle to work, and blogging on the go in either aspect may be a tad dangerous (especially as I have the road sense of a baby sparrow...)

So! I'm going to write a blog diary and do a playlist every month again. I am, I am, I am, I AM! I'm going to give every month a theme as well, because I listen to so much music that this would just get daft if not. Oh and the limit is 10 songs. I'm all about the rules, clearly! I'm also all about finding something nice to do when you're having your lunch break, like write lists like this!

This month's theme is Songs I had Forgotten About.

1. Anyone Else But You - The Moldy Peaches

This song reminds me of first year university when I discovered The Moldy Peaches. I spent a lot of time in my room listening to music when I should have been out enjoying myself more, but never mind! That said I was pretty brave at going to gigs on my own though!

2. Blister in the Sun - Violent Femmes

A perfect summer song, which makes me think of Placebo, but jollier!

3. Have Love Will Travel - The Sonics

Mostly because I'm itching to go away somewhere very soon but can't make my mind up where!

4. Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt - We Are Scientists

This onereminds me the Summer I moved from the edge of London right into the middle of town and had high hopes about having lots of fun with my new housemates... which totally did not materialise! I went to see this band with my new housemate and it was the one and only time we hung out! All a little odd. I bloody love this song and it makes me think of many other things too, but mostly reminds me of moving into a slightly crazy flat which wasn't much fun at first but become absoltuely awesome. There's a moral in this story about everything working out in the end!

5. Breakfast - My Vitriol

I am so happy that a wonderful conversation lead me to remembering my favourite band from half a lifetime ago. They remind me of growing up in a small time with one teeny record shop where I'd go and order albums I'd heard on The Evening Session or read about in Kerrang! They had some My Vitriol posters on display and when they were finished with I got them so I had a whole wall of My Vitriol posters. That was nice! I wonder if they're still in my parent's attic....

6. One Week - Barenaked Ladies

My poor housemate had to listen to me trying to prove that I knew all the words to this song. It turned out I didn't. Oh well, I tried!

7. What Do I Do Now - Sleeper

I had just forgotten about this song completely. It was all about 'Inbetweener' in my head. Again, my poor housemate had to put up with me trying to sing this...

8. The Look - Metrononomy

It sounds like the fairground! How could I forget about this?! Also, I'd like to go to the fairground please. But only this one or similar. This is totally a shimmy round the studio ditty (oh hello next months's theme!)

9. Don't Let Him Waste Your Time - Jarvis Cocker

What upsets me more is that I had not ever seen the video for this before. It's AMAZING! Watch it! &..... I get to share the same air as the man next month. Oh yes...

10. Hundred Reasons - If I Could

I've heard a rumour that there's a 'noughties' club night. Please can this be a 'thing' so I can go and jump around like an idiot to songs like this? That's totally not what I've been doing in the studio at all, not at all....
