The sun is here! It's time for some outside markets I reckon...
As part of the brilliant Crouch End Festival, there will be a handmade market this weekend, which I will be taking part in, along with some other wonderful folk, who you can learn about below
When is it?
Saturday 8th June, at 10.30am until 5pm
The event is part of Crouch End Festival which is a wonderful collection of the arts in North London.
Where is it?
Hornsey Town Hall Square, Crouch End N8. The location is right in the middle of lovely Crouch End. If you're coming via public transport from Central London then you can get the Number 91 bus from King's Cross all the way there (about half an hour), or take the Underground to Finsbury Park and then exit via Wells Terrace and jump on a W7 bus
What will be there?
You are in for a treat. Let me introduce you to the marketeers!
Gaby makes wonderful jewellry, in her own words she "develops through a 'hands-on' approach by playing with different combinations till she hits on something that works for her". Her style is contemporary yet wearable.
Katie designs and makes vintage style cards and stationery using a range of found objects including old photographs and fabrics. There will be plenty of seasonal cards including those for Father's Day and Weddings, as well as other occasions.
(Yes, I know this is me but I thought I should mention me too!)
Fiona creates fine art paintings, drawings and art objects. Fiona will be selling cards and a kit to make-your-own model of a local landmark, which I think sounds particularly exciting!
Triptych are a group of three architectural students who design jewellery pieces fusing crisp lines and geometry with an ethereal twist. Materials include laser cut wood and a variety of metal findings.
Melonie beautifully crafts leather accessories including some brilliant bags amongst other small goods. Melonie will also be launching her new phone case range this weekend too - perhaps the perfect Father's day gift?
Jacqueline has a beautiful range of mosaic home accessories including bowls and mirrors, and will also be selling some hand crocheted items.
Leaping Lizards is a lovely North London based brand, selling children's clothes made from Indian and African fabrics, which the owners have sourced themselves.
For the feline fans amongst you all, Kellas will be selling her cat art in a range of prints and greetings cards.
Lydia Wall will be selling bespoke hats and headpieces, laser cut leather jewellery and accessories. Her pieces are incredible, as is her colour palette.
Jo will be selling a variety of products including cushions and silk scarves in her brilliant vibrant prints. Jo is a textile, pattern and surface designer whose studio has been based in Crouch End for thirteen years.
'Made in Crouch End' is the work of Silke, who sells jolly gifts and accessories, which are of course made in Crouch End!
Alison will be selling her contemporary hand crafted glass decorative giftware.
And last but undoubtedly by no means least, Made by Swimmer are two sisters who make lovely gifts using recycled fabrics. Their love of sewing is very apparent from their fun embroideries. Their products are lively with a real sense of personality.
This is just a selection of the stalls that will be there, amongst music and other lovely entertainment. Fingers crossed for sunshine...
There is some more information here too.
